Alignment: ELA (English Language Arts)

ELA (English Language Arts) standards define what students are expected to learn in English Language Arts by the end of each grade level. LevelUp Reader is aligned to ELA standards for grades K-3 for every U.S. state as well as to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Geolocation makes it simple to place students automatically within their state framework―without necessitating time-consuming teacher crosswalks. Comprehension questions at the end of every book provide real-time data on student progress toward mastery of ELA standards and acquisition of skills. Educators can use this actionable data to identify students in need of intervention. Then, subsequent filtering of titles based on standards and skills allows teachers to assign targeted titles for remediation quickly and seamlessly.

Correlations: Science (NGSS)

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) correlations below have been created to easily identify which LevelUp Reader resources teachers may incorporate into their science program.

Each list is organized to provide material for teachers to connect the four main disciplines of science—Physical Science, Life Science, Earth and Space Science, and Engineering Design—through grade-appropriate science text. Titles are specifically selected to focus on the development of scientific inquiry, student engagement, and investigation abilities through a wide variety of topics.

In the PDF attachments below, each correlation is structured by Lexile® level.

Correlations: Social Studies (C3)

The College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards is developed to emphasize the application of four core dimensions in social studies education: Civics, Economics, Geography, and History. The correlations below have been created to easily identify which LevelUp Reader resources teachers may incorporate into their social studies program. Titles are chosen to provide students with additional resources on how to deepen their understanding of community and world practices, engage in real-world situations, learn from the past and present events, and develop skills on how to become active citizens within their communities.

In the PDF attachments below, each correlation is structured by Lexile® level.

Correlations: Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL)

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework is developed to emphasize the application of five areas of competence in social and emotional development: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. The correlations below have been created to easily identify which LevelUp Reader resources teachers may incorporate into their social and emotional learning program. Titles are chosen to provide students with additional resources on how to develop well-balanced identities, manage emotions and achieve goals, feel and display empathy for others, foster supportive relationships, and make responsible and thoughtful decisions.

Correlations: Mathematics (NCTM)

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) content standards for school mathematics describe the mathematical understanding, knowledge, and skills that students should acquire from pre-kindergarten through grade 5. The five content standards encompass specific expectations in Number and Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, and Data Analysis and Probability.

The correlations below have been created to easily identify which LevelUp Reader resources teachers may incorporate into their mathematics learning program. Titles are chosen to provide students with additional resources to help them understand relationships among numbers and number systems; analyze mathematical situations and structures using algebraic symbols; analyze characteristics and properties of two- and three-dimensional geometric shapes; identify appropriate tools and formulas to determine measurements; and develop and evaluate inferences and predictions that are based on data.
