New “My Settings” Page with Enhanced Account and Bookshelf Controls for Teachers
As part of our ongoing efforts to help educators make the best use of valuable classroom time and ensure that the most relevant resources are at your fingertips, we are happy to announce new options for account management and bookshelf customization for teachers on LevelUp Reader. These controls are found on a new page, accessible by clicking the account icon in the upper right and selecting “My Settings.”

New Controls for Account Settings, Bookshelf Settings, and Bookshelf Rows
Account Settings
Under Account Settings, teachers can edit their first or last name as displayed on LevelUp Reader and even update their username and password. These are the same account management tools that teachers have for their students when teachers click on a student name from the Roster page under My Classroom.
After making an edit, click “Save Changes” and the change will take effect. If you adjust your username or password, LevelUp Reader will ask you to confirm before logging you out in order for your credentials to be updated.

Bookshelf Settings
Under Bookshelf Settings, teachers have new options for customizing the books that appear on their shelves.
“Bookshelf Range” gives teachers two options:
- Show books within the bookshelf ranges of students in your class (100L below the lowest student Lexile measure to 50L above the highest student Lexile measure).
- Show books from a specific minimum to maximum Lexile measure.
The ability for educators to customize how books populate on their bookshelf has multiple benefits. By having the titles most relevant to themselves and their students, teachers will be able to make informed decisions for personalized learning, differentiation, inclusivity, and skill development. For example, a teacher may choose to only display books from BR100L to 300L in order to focus on supporting emerging and beginning readers in their class. Another teacher may want to utilize a much wider scope of LevelUp Reader titles for differentiating various student needs by setting the “Bookshelf Range” slider to its minimum and maximum limits.
To preserve crucial user data, this setting does not impact bookshelf rows like Continue Reading, Assigned to Students, or Recently Read.
“Bookshelf Language” gives teachers the opportunity to enable Spanish and bilingual books on their Bookshelf, where they would be displayed alongside the default English titles. Incorporating bilingual and Spanish texts in an elementary classroom promotes cultural awareness, supports language development, enhances literacy skills, fosters family and community engagement, and provides cognitive benefits for students.

Bookshelf Rows
Under Bookshelf Rows, teachers can further customize their access to book selections by enabling or disabling specific rows on their shelf. They can also adjust the order of the rows. A teacher with a class of more advanced readers, for example, may elect to disable the “Phonics Readers” row or push it toward the bottom of their bookshelf. Another teacher may choose to bump the “Running Records” row to the top of the shelf when focusing on fluency in the classroom. A third teacher may choose to push the “Popular with Your Students” row higher on the bookshelf to foster enjoyable reading habits for their class.
Teachers may be familiar with these controls because they are the same that allow them to customize student bookshelves on the Bookshelf Settings page under My Classroom.

These new options from LevelUp Reader give educators opportunities to:
- align book selections with curriculum objectives
- tailor the library to accommodate diverse student needs
- promote differentiation in instruction
- select engaging and high-quality books to cultivate a love for reading
- foster literacy development through a positive reading culture among students
Overall, having control over book selections and availability for the classroom empowers teachers to create an enriching environment that supports student learning, literacy development, and lifelong engagement with reading.
